Statement of intent

 Statement of intent:

To establish a consistent brand identity of Authenticity and realism across my print products and my website pages, I aim to appeal to 16  to 25 year olds with a taste for simplicity and a minimalist wardrobe as a way of appreciating the beauty of just existing inside your own skin. To accomplish this, I’ll shoot my photos outside, instead of a traditional studio to make the images feel naturally integrated into my print products, and the website and not randomly inserted in and overly edited like many high-end magazines. I’ll also maintain a level of consistency with the colour schemes of my front covers and their accompanying content pages, but I’ll have different ones for each issue. That way, My issues remain distinctly different and rely on the seasons, such as my winter themed first issue, which will have a blue and white colour scheme to connote Christmas Time and the end of the year. My overarching Masthead “Resolution” aims to denote quality and power through its sheer size and professional font. This aims to capture the same star power as Vogue and will make my brand eye catching. Through my Photos, I aim to establish open-mindedness and integrate both genders to appeal to conde Nasts traditional value of inclusivity and diversity. But I’m challenging this by including talents that adopt a Gender-Neutral approach and establish Gender itself as a Social construct, rather than a fixed identity.

To embrace my minimalism aesthetic, I’m using more Neutral Colour backgrounds, such as a mix of greys and whites for my website home page to maximise readability for my audience and building caution in case some members might be photo sensitive. My featured stories section will be separated by three articles of Fashion, culture and style, integrating a range of content into my main section for the audience to consume. My audio feature on the home page will be designed to convince younger people to experiment with their own identity and not fall prey to the traditional elements of past Gen X society. My linked page of Bournemouth’s Christmas markets will allow people to reflect on their past experiences during Christmas and how insignificant us humans are next to time and the world we live in, despite the multi-conglomerate organisations and corporations we’ve set up to try and establish power and control over the elements.

It is important for a media text to have a consistent brand across all its components to maintain a specific target audience. In this way, I’ll use the same professional font for the masthead across my front covers, content pages and website pages. I’ll also use a title from my second issue called “the future of Fashion” to implicitly advertise the website for audiences, but they’ll only understand the connection once they’ve visited the website and seen it attached to my hero image. The resolution.com links at the bottom of my print products to allow audiences to type in that website and explore my brand for themselves.
